What is the Difference Between Indian and Chinese Hair Extensions?

Considering hair extensions? If you’re considering the longer locks and weighing the pricing options,  you’re probably very confused why one set of 25 strands is more than another set of 100 strands. The answer is simple. It’s the hair type and quality.

There are three main options – Chinese, Indian, and European. European is quite expensive and the average person will usually pass them up due to the cost. The reason for the high price is the scarcity of the hair. There isn’t as much supply so the prices are usually a lot more.

Next are the Chinese and Indian options. The difference between the two is important to know because it will help you to make the right choice.

Chinese hair is your least expensive option. These are usually the hair extensions you will find for $40 per 100 strands or a ridiculously low price like this. This type of hair is coarse and thick. The texture requires that the hair be chemically treated before it can be used in hair extensions. After the treatment, it lacks shine and has a rough texture. Many Chinese extensions are coated with silicon to give it a shine and make it more appealing. Therefore, it appears to be a very nice quality from first glance.

However, this coating will wash off after a few washes, though, and the hair will lack the shine from then on. Due to the processing, it will not dye well and is not very durable.  This type is available in large supplies which is why it is very easy to find and available at rock bottom prices. It is just not a high quality product. You will probably end up spending more over a span of time on Chinese then you would if you had just got Indian because you will have to do multiple replacements.

Indian hair is fine with a good shine.  It is similar in structure to the expensive European hair extensions because of the  great shine and looks very healthy. It is available in a range of styles and is easy to maintain and care for. The life span is rather long, too. They can be dyed without damage so you get a perfect match to your own hair color. The price for Indian hair is usually more than Chinese hair, however, in the end,  you get a great value for your money.

Remy hair is a common term you’ll hear from time to time which means that the hair is 100% human hair and processed with all the cuticles aligned in the same direction. The ensures shiny, tangle free hair. Indian remy hair is often the high quality choice for many salon owners.

When you are shopping for your choice take a good look at them and ask the supplier what type of hair they are. You should look to see if they are coated or if they are genuine.

If you are going to spend money and time lengthening your locks,  then you need to make sure that you are getting the best deal and not just the lowest price. There are many companies out there that try to pass off low quality hair for high quality hair. You have to educate yourself so that you can get good quality hair extensions for your money and not get ripped off by cheap imitations.
